Asheville is known as a hip, bohemian city full of outdoor activities and amazing beer.

But did you know the traffic here is pretty minimal, especially for a city that’s growing as fast as Asheville is?

While everyone complains about sitting in traffic for any amount of time, drivers in Asheville haven’t noticed their commute times increase in years. In fact, it’s getting better, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. If you add up all of the seconds saved commuting in 2016 compared to the study in 2012, drivers saved 78 minutes a year. The average commute time here? Twenty-one minutes and 18 seconds.
