Peak Health & Wellness, launched in 2005, offers two locations – The Peak and Peak West Bank Landing. The Peak offers a multitude of classes, massage therapy, a smoothie bar, three pools and more.

Studio Barre offers specialized classes focused on building core strength and improving posture. Also popular, especially in the CrossFit community, are Volta Athletics and Big Sky CrossFit. 

Planet Fitness and Fit Republic also have locations in Great Falls .

A German pub in downtown Great Falls might top the charts when it comes to the number of beers housed in its establishment. KellerGeist Pub Theater claims it stocks more German beers per square foot than anywhere else in the world.

And Matthias and Jolene Schalper, who opened the business in 2018 in a former furniture store, aren’t skimping on the variety of beers served, including brands such as Bitburger Premium Pilsner, Warsteiner Premium Pilsener, Carlsberg Pilsner and Wolters Pilsener.

If you prefer more of a cocktail-style of drink, the pub has you covered, too. One of the most popular is a grapefruit concoction made with habanero peppers, while other favorites include hot bourbon drinks and mulled wine.

Pep in Your Step

Located on Central Avenue in Great Falls, Electric City Coffee, Coffee Bar & Bistro offers customers a hefty menu, selling everything from coffee, tea and espresso drinks to a full spread of breakfast and lunch options.

Ask a local for a recommendation, and you are likely to hear good things about the huckleberry latte, fresh fruit smoothies, grilled roast beef sandwich or salmon patty salad. 

Serving up these culinary-must-haves is chef Matt Carlson, who trained at Le Cordon Bleu and the Culinary Institute of America and has a knack for creating beautiful and unique pastries, such as the delicious twice-baked chocolate almond croissant. It is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. every weekday.

Western Works 

Great Falls itself is a work of art, boasting image-worthy outdoor scenes, like views of the Missouri River and large tracts of grassland, that would awe even the harshest of art critics.

Complementing the area’s outdoor beauty are galleries and museums, including the C.M. Russell Museum, which houses the largest collection of works from world-famous Western artist Charles Marion Russell.

Known as “The Cowboy Artist,” Russell served many years as the Great Falls artist-in-residence and died there in the 1920s at age 62. Many pieces of his prolific work – he created 2,000 paintings and bronze sculptures – can be found on display at the museum.

While there, visitors can also cast their gaze on the works of other well-known Western artists, such as O.C. Seltzer and Gary Schildt. Plus, thanks to murals created during the summer ArtsFest Montana event, downtown has become a walking art gallery.
