Stretching from American Bank Center Arena to the wetlands along Oso Bay, the nearly 9-mile Corpus Christi Bay Trail has plenty of attractions and activities for walkers, hikers and bikers to enjoy.
This scenic trail offers the sights and sounds of downtown Corpus Christi, with popular tourist attractions including Bayfront Plaza Convention Center, the Art Museum of South Texas and the Museum of Science and History right along the way.
The trail is also known for its bird watching, with rare, threatened and endangered species like the piping plover, reddish egret, brown pelican and American peregrine falcon often visible in the Oso Creek and Oso Bay wetlands regions.
The trail can be traced back to 1991, when the city of Corpus Christi received a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation for its creation. Its history stretches back even further, though – a number of archaeological sites are believed to exist along the Cayo Del Oso and Oso Creek.
