8 Things To Do in Dallas-Fort Worth

Everything's bigger in Texas, including the number of options when deciding what to do during your free time.

In a place like the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, residents and tourists don’t have to go far to find fun things to do. DFW is a popular location for vacations and staycations alike; and while its economic growth has lead to an influx of hardworking residents, even the busiest of workers deserve some fun. Whether you’re experiencing DFW for the first time or are a Texas native, check out these unique things you can only do in DFW.

1. Sundance Square

Covering more than 35 blocks of downtown Fort Worth, Sundance Square perfectly balances the modern and the historic for its visitors who frequent the offices, restaurants, retail stores, and entertainment spots that fill the square. Whether you visit during the day or at night, a walk around the Sundance Square Plaza with its jetted water fountain will make you want to visit again.

2. Billy Bob’s Texas

Take the night off, put on your dancing boots and learn how to two-step at Billy Bob’s Texas. You’ll dance the night away while enjoying live country music, bull riding and line dancing lessons at the world’s largest honky tonk.

3. Reunion Tower GeO-Deck

The Reunion Tower GeO-Deck provides a breathtaking view of the DFW landscape and downtown Dallas, especially at night when the city’s lights are twinkling. Prepare to be amazed at how far you can see.

4. Gaylord Texan Resort

Gaylord Texan Resort is a convention center, hotel and mini-city all in one beautiful building. Right on the edge of Grapevine Lake, people come from all around to take in the 4.5 acres of Texas gardens and walkways inspired by San Antonio’s famous Riverwalk. You’ll forget you’re inside as you follow the river around the walkways, and with high-end restaurants, unique stores, and a seasonal waterpark, you’ll have no reason to leave anytime soon.

5. Fort Worth Stockyards Rodeo

The Fort Worth Stockyards gives visitors a chance to see what Texas is known for: its longhorns, cowboys and rodeos. Check out what DFW does best and take it back to the good ol’ days with bull riding, barrel racing and more.

6. Texas Motor Speedway Ride Along

Ever want to be a NASCAR racer, or experience the thrill of 160mph speeds? Check out the Richard Petty Driving Experience to drive like you never have before (at least legally) on the official Texas Motor Speedway.

7. IKEA/Nebraska Furniture Mart

While this may seem like an odd thing to do, the new IKEA and Nebraska Furniture Mart (NFM) Stores are hugely popular for residents and visitors alike. These stores aren’t just anywhere, and with more than 560,000 square feet at NFM and 310,000 square feet at IKEA, they’ll leave you exhausted from the walk, and fixed up with brand new furniture and appliances. Seriously, they have EVERYTHING.

Whether it’s the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, or Dallas Mavericks, Texas does professional sports right, with energetic fans, competitive teams and top-quality stadiums, like Globe Life Park and AT&T Stadium.
