Activities for Kids in Fort Worth, TX
Fort Worth, TX, is full of kid-friendly activities and attractions, such as a zoo, art museum and more.
Kids love animals, and Texas is home to more species of animals than any other state in the nation – and some small countries! The Fort Worth Zoo celebrates exotic species as well as the diversity of local creatures.
More than 500 different species are featured in the zoo’s exhibits. Cheetahs, penguins, flamingos, primates and meerkats all have their own exhibits. Broader continental exhibits include the African Savannah, Asian Falls, Australian Outback and Great Barrier Reef. The Texas Wild! exhibit addresses issues closer to home, empowering youngsters to become great stewards of the land.
Creative kids can learn about drawing the first Sunday afternoon of every month at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, where an artist leads children grouped by age in drawing exercises inspired by works in the museum’s collection.
Cow Town History
Little cowpokes can watch a real live cattle drive every day at the Fort Worth Herd, the world’s only daily cattle drive. Real cowboys and cowgirls dressed in 1865-period duds drive longhorn cattle down Exchange Avenue twice a day to their grazing grounds. Kids get a cowhands-on experience at the petting zoo and can visit the spirit of the old west at the nearby stockyards.
