Ascension Mercy Hospital is part of Ascension, the nation’s largest nonprofit Catholic health system. Ascension operates 24 hospital campuses and more than 100 related health care facilities across the state. The 157-bed hospital employs 300 medical staff, and offers a wide range of services, including emergency medicine, obstetrics, surgery, cardiac and cancer care.
Ascension Mercy Hospital is home to the nationally recognized Kennedy Center for the Hip and Knee.
The hospital has a long history of community involvement, including a recent initiative, where its facilities department built garden boxes, in which different departments planted and “adopted†a vegetable for the summer. The carefully tended veggies were then donated to a local homeless shelter and food pantry.
Cited by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as a five-star hospital in the nation’s top 10 percent, Mercy opened its Geropsychiatric Inpatient Unit in June 2018. The new unit offers mental health care specially tailored to the needs of seniors facing such issues as depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety and thought disorders. The only facility of its kind in the Fox Valley, the 8-bed center is expected to grow to 25 beds as needs demand.
Aurora Medical Center Oshkosh
Aurora Medical Center Oshkosh is part of Aurora Health Care, which operates hospitals in 30 counties in Wisconsin and Illinois. The 61-bed hospital offers services that include its Vince Lombardi Cancer Center, a 24/7 emergency department, neurological care, women’s services, apheresis services and more.
The hospital was named a Truven Top 100 Hospital, and in May 2018 its Emergency department received the Patriot Award for being a friendly employer of U.S. military members. Making health care more accessible to the community, in 2017 Aurora Medical Center Oshkosh opened a clinic on Jackson Street, offering physical therapy, occupational therapy, dermatology services, primary care, a sleep lab, a back and spine program, and a drive-through pharmacy.
