Wyoming Medical Center, the state’s largest comprehensive provider, makes its home on a 719,000-square-foot campus covering nearly four city blocks. While the hospital is large, it strives to deliver personal care. The center runs the state’s only air ambulance program, Wyoming Life Flight, which brings patients to an emergency room serving 36,000 people each year. Specializing in cardiology and neurology, the operates the Heart Center of Wyoming and the Wyoming Neuroscience and Spine Institute, both of which are nationally recognized. In an effort to make health care available to all Wyoming residents, the center regularly flies physicians to outlying clinics.

Wyoming Medical Center is particularly proud of their nursing staff. Seeking Magnet recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center is one of the hospital’s latest initiatives. Magnet is a designation awarded to hospitals fostering high-quality outcomes and a professional practice environment. Specializing in mental health services for children and adults, Wyoming Behavioral Hospital is a 70-bed organization providing in- and outpatient services as well as referrals to area therapists and physicians. In addition to a full range of therapy and other treatment options, the hospital offers pediatric patients an on-site school with certified teachers, allowing young patients to focus on recovery while still remaining involved with their studies. Wyoming Behavioral Hospital provides all patients with a free assessment, and treats adults for conditions including alcohol and other drug dependency, depression, schizophrenia and abuse. Casper is also home to a new, specialty center, Mountain View Regional Hospital, which opened in June. Mountain View offers neurological, neurosurgical, pain management and imaging services, treating patients with back and neck pain; brain and neurological disorders and those with injuries resulting from accidents. Surgeons performing these services are the four physicians of Central Wyoming Neurosurgery. Mountain View emphasizes their hand-picked staff hired to deliver top-shelf service and care in a setting available for children and adults.
