Living in Rock Springs

The county as a whole has seen a recent surge in its number of subdivisions, and Rock Springs is no exception. Newer developments within the area include Scenic Development Apartments, with 264 units in an 11-building complex in Rock Springs. Morningside at Rock Springs is a community of luxury townhomes and single-family homes, all priced under $200,000.

Rock Springs, WY: Home Price Averages

The estimated median household income in Sweetwater County is an impressive $65,000, which gives many residents plenty of home buying power. The median house or condominium value is approximately $190,000, with home prices ranging from $135,000-$264,000. As for apartments, a one-bedroom rents for about $400 a month, while a two-bedroom goes for $500 and a three-bedroom for $700.

Housing Availability

Since 2006 when the oil and gas boom propelled the local economy to even greater heights, nearly 70 subdivisions have been under construction in Sweetwater County to accommodate the new and existing workforce. There has been a lot of interest in single-family dwellings and apartment complexes, such as Hunter’s Run Townhomes, with affordable 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom townhomes in the Green River valley.

Reasons to Live in Idaho

Sweetwater County is home to adventure and wide-open spaces, with 10,500 square feet of land available to the public. Outdoor activities can include hiking, visiting the Grand Tetons, boating on Flaming Gorge or rafting down the Green River. The air is clean, the crime is low and the unemployment rate is almost non-existent, plus there are many dining, shopping and museum opportunities. And even though the winters certainly are cold, the sun shines, typically, more than 300 days out of the year.

One final point: Sweetwater County has been getting an influx of younger residents in recent times. The average age nowadays is 34 compared to 2006 when it was 47.
