Compliments to the chefs of independent dining spots throughout Sweetwater County, where diverse menus make going out to eat great for residents and visitors. Here are examples:

Steaks & Seafood

Prime rib, catfish, pasta and blooming onions are some of the offerings at Log Inn Restaurant on Purple Sage Road in Rock Springs. The cabin-like building sets the mood for a rustic Wyoming meal, complemented by the eatery’s wine list and full line of draft beers.

Classics

Grub’s Drive In has served Rock Springs breakfast, lunch and dinner since 1946. Homemade soup is offered daily along with homemade pies and American fare that includes burgers, fries and shakes.

Remedies Grill is a combination soda shop/burger joint located in the  Bi-Rite Drug Store on Broadway Street in Rock Springs. The big seller at the eatery, open Monday-Saturday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., is its hamburger with grilled onions and bacon.

Coffee

Beans and bikes unite at The Bike and Trike in Rock Springs. The business is a full-scale bike shop along with a café that serves a lineup of coffees, small pastries and other breakfast items.

Doughnuts

In March 2011, Cowboy Donuts opened for business, and today offers 40 varieties of doughnuts at its shop off Dewar Drive in Rock Springs. Also available are kolaches, fresh-baked pastries filled with sausage, cheese or fruit.

Brewery

Established in 1997, Bitter Creek Brewing produces several microbrews, including popular brands like Boar’s Tusk and A Beer Named Bob. The Rock Springs business serves lunch and dinner and features a full wine list.

Market

A Rock Springs landmark since it opened in the 1930s is Boschetto’s European Market & Deli, founded by Ben Boschetto when he came to Wyoming from northern Italy. He operated his business as a grocery store (Ben’s Foodliner) for more than 50 years, and today Boschetto’s is known for its food and traditional brands such as Kronski’s Sausage.

Golf Course Dining

9 Iron Italian Grill, located at White Mountain Golf Course, serves dinner to the general public from 5-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Menu items include steaks, burgers, pizza, lasagna, seafood dishes, sandwiches, appetizers and desserts.

Testimonial:

“Best donuts we’ve had in a long time. We ordered a dozen and they didn’t make it out the door. We took a taste and couldn’t stop. The manager came out and chatted while we ate.”
