Cavender's is a cultural institution in Tyler, TX, and a household name across the nation.

In the heart of East Texas, a company that started as a single storefront has become a household name, not just in Tyler, Texas, but across the country. Cavender’s Boot City, the iconic Western wear retailer, is celebrating 60 years of outfitting generations with authentic Western style and Texas pride. And while its reach now spans over 100 stores in more than 15 states, Tyler holds a special place in the Cavender family’s story.

From Small-Town Start to National Success

Cavender’s began in 1965, when James and Patricia “Pat” Cavender opened their first Western store in Pittsburg, Texas. With a passion for hard work and a love for the Western lifestyle, the couple laid the foundation for what would become a nationwide destination for cowboy boots, hats and genuine Western apparel.

“Our parents believed in doing things the right way – with honesty, quality and service that made people feel like family,” says Joe Cavender, president of Cavender’s Boot City.

As the business grew, so did Cavender’s commitment to community and legacy. Today, the company proudly upholds the vision James Cavender set in motion six decades ago.
