The Maples, Murfreesboro, TN: A Master-Planned Community with Resort-Style Amenities

By Abby Ford on September 9, 2026

The Maples is a locally owned master-planned community that began as one man’s dream and is being carried out by his descendants, the Couch and Maples families. They have transitioned over 300 acres of farmland into a community of sprawling, luxury homes and state-of-the-art neighborhood amenities.

The Maples retains its family-oriented spirit, with neighbors dedicated to community betterment.

Overall Vibe & Lifestyle

The original Maples family farmhouse was renovated into an amenities center, complete with a kitchen and spaces for community celebrations and gatherings. Neighbors lounge at the surrounding beach-style entry pool before playing a game of tennis, basketball or pickleball courts.

Children laugh and race through the neighborhood streets, and homeowners catch up over their fencelines. The Maples residents prioritize a quiet, communal lifestyle with city access, without the inner-city hustle and bustle.

Safety & Walkability

Two main street entrances make the neighborhood accessible for local traffic and limit congestion while maintaining a calm community atmosphere with no through traffic. Each street is lined with maintained sidewalks on both sides, allowing residents to walk, run, and exercise pets in comfort.

The neighborhood maintains a low incident rate that’s typical of peaceful south Murfreesboro communities.

Natural & Built Environment

The Maples is surrounded by other housing communities and untouched, wooded farmland, with local shops, schools and churches dispersed throughout. The open land is full of native maple and blackhaw trees, and the inner-neighborhood landscaping reflects this with a variety of native shrubs and trees lining the meandering, coved street layout.

There are no trails in the neighborhood, but the amenities center maintains a playground for resident children.

Design & Architecture

Homes in The Maples incorporate traditional Southern architecture with modern suburban design, creating a cohesive streetscape while still offering variety among builders and sections. Brick exteriors and covered porches are especially common.

Most residences are two-story, single-family homes with open-concept floor plans designed for modern living. Interiors often feature spacious kitchens, large family gathering areas, primary suites with generous square footage, and flexible bonus rooms that can serve as home offices, playrooms, or guest spaces.
