Foxland Harbor, Gallatin, TN

By Danyell Marshall on October 12, 2026

Foxland Harbor is a master-planned lake-and-golf community on the north shore of Old Hickory Lake in southwest Gallatin, Tennessee. Built around the Foxland course at Tennessee Grasslands Golf & Country Club, it combines resort-style scenery with a broad mix of residences, from low-maintenance condos and townhomes to detached homes and custom waterfront estates. The neighborhood is close enough to Gallatin and Hendersonville for everyday services, yet its rolling fairways, lake views, and historic clubhouse give it a distinct destination feel.

Overall Vibe and Lifestyle

Foxland Harbor feels polished and recreational rather than secluded. Golf carts, club activity, walkers, and lake traffic are part of the daily rhythm, while the property’s scale creates quieter pockets away from the main amenities. The strongest views tend to come from lakefront, elevated, and golf-course homesites, but interior streets still benefit from the landscaped setting.

The community is not one uniform subdivision. Revery Point and Revery Waterside emphasize attached and condominium living near the lake; The Greens offers golf-oriented townhomes; Fairways and Links include detached homes; and estate areas contain larger custom properties. Those sections can differ in gate access, maintenance responsibilities, fees, and architectural standards.

Tennessee Grasslands is the neighborhood’s social and recreational anchor, but club membership is separate from residential ownership and should not be assumed to transfer with a home. Some enclaves are gated, while the principal roads serving the course and club are generally open. Buyers should verify the exact arrangement for the property they are considering.

Walkability and Mobility

Internal streets work well for recreational walking, jogging, and golf-cart travel, particularly near the clubhouse and amenity areas. Sidewalk coverage and street design vary by phase, however, and the neighborhood’s size means that even an in-community destination may be farther away than it appears on a map.

Foxland Harbor is not a walk-to-shopping neighborhood. Groceries, schools, restaurants, medical offices, and most services require a car. Nashville Pike, downtown Gallatin, and the commercial areas of Hendersonville are the main destinations for routine errands.

Lake access also varies by property. Some waterfront homes have private docks, but shoreline location does not automatically confer dock rights, and federal approval may be required. Residents without a permitted dock use public ramps and full-service marinas elsewhere on Old Hickory Lake; the large shared marina once proposed for Foxland Harbor was withdrawn in 2026.

Natural and Built Environment

Old Hickory Lake defines the neighborhood’s eastern and southern edges, while the Foxland golf course organizes much of the interior landscape. Fairways, ponds, mature tree lines, and changing elevations create long views and more open space than a conventional suburban street pattern.

Homesites fall into several practical categories: direct waterfront, lake view, golf course, and interior. Each comes with different trade-offs. Waterfront parcels may face shoreline and dock rules; golf-course lots may experience maintenance activity and occasional stray balls; elevated lots can deliver views without direct water access.

The built environment mixes finished streets with newer phases and infill construction. City development records continue to identify Revery Waterside, a condominium project near Foxland Boulevard and Douglas Bend Road, as an active component of the larger community.

Because the neighborhood developed in stages, lot size, setbacks, streetscape, and landscaping differ from one section to another. The result is visual variety, but it also makes an in-person comparison of specific streets more useful than relying on the Foxland Harbor name alone.

Design and Architecture

Most homes date from the 2010s and 2020s, with new construction continuing in selected areas. The prevailing look is upscale and traditionally influenced: Brick-and-stone exteriors, substantial rooflines, covered entries, and carefully landscaped approaches are common. Newer residences may lean more transitional or contemporary while retaining a lake-house emphasis on views and outdoor living.

Detached homes range from efficient patio-home plans to large custom estates. Open kitchens, high ceilings, main-level primary suites, home offices, bonus rooms, attached garages, and covered rear porches are frequent features. Premium properties may include outdoor kitchens, pools, elevators, multiple terraces, or extensive glass facing the lake or the course.

Attached housing broadens the market. Townhomes, villas, and condominium residences can offer smaller footprints or reduced exterior maintenance without sacrificing the Foxland setting. Floor-plan configuration, private garage access, outdoor space and the scope of association-provided maintenance vary by building and phase.

Architectural review is an important part of the neighborhood’s appearance. Exterior alterations, additions, fences, landscape changes, and new construction may require approval under master or section-specific guidelines, so renovation plans should be reviewed before purchase.

Housing at a Glance

Foxland Harbor includes multiple residential formats rather than a single housing type. The principal differences are property orientation, level of customization, and the amount of exterior maintenance handled by an association.

Amenities and Local Conveniences

The principal private amenity is Tennessee Grasslands Golf & Country Club. Its Foxland course is an 18-hole, par-72 layout measuring roughly 7,200 yards, and the club also operates the nearby Fairvue course. Golf access, dining, and organized events depend on the selected membership category.

Club facilities include a lakeside pool with lap lanes and a beach-entry children’s area, a fitness center overlooking the water, dining, racquet sports and a golf performance center. Tennessee Grasslands also provides a second clubhouse, pool, and fitness operation at Fairvue, expanding the amenity network beyond Foxland itself.

Old Hickory Lake supports boating, fishing and paddling, but access is property-specific. A practical public option is Lock 4 Park in Gallatin, which provides boat ramps, fishing access, picnic facilities, a playground and mountain-bike trails.

Everyday conveniences are concentrated along Nashville Pike and in Gallatin. Downtown Gallatin offers locally owned restaurants, retail, civic services, and community events, while Hendersonville’s Indian Lake area provides another large cluster of shopping, dining, and entertainment.

Schools and Education

Sumner County Schools serve Foxland Harbor. Current neighborhood and property sources commonly associate addresses with Jack Anderson Elementary STEM School, Station Camp Middle School, and Station Camp High School.

School assignments can change with rezoning and may differ at the edges of a development. Families should use the district’s official school-zone lookup for the exact street address rather than relying solely on a listing or neighborhood summary.

Application-based public options in the district include Merrol Hyde Magnet School and Sumner County Middle College High School. Admission rules, grade spans, and transportation arrangements are separate from the standard neighborhood assignment.

Gallatin also has private preschool and K-12 choices, and Volunteer State Community College operates its main campus in the city. Foxland Harbor itself does not contain a school campus, so daily travel is part of the household routine.

Commuting and Location

Foxland Harbor sits in southwest Gallatin, between the city’s historic center and Hendersonville. Nashville Pike, also known as U.S. 31E, is the main commercial spine; State Route 386, or Vietnam Veterans Boulevard, provides the higher-speed connection toward Interstate 65 and Nashville.

Downtown Gallatin is only a few miles away, while Hendersonville is convenient for additional retail, healthcare, and services. Nashville is roughly 25 miles from the community, but actual travel time varies considerably depending on the time of day and congestion on State Route 386 and Interstate 65.

The location can suit hybrid workers, Gallatin-area professionals, and households tied to Sumner County. A daily peak-hour commute into central Nashville is feasible but should be tested at the intended travel time. Nashville International Airport requires a cross-metro drive and can take substantially longer during busy periods. Transit and walk-to-work options are limited, and most households will rely on private vehicles. Golf carts are useful within the community where permitted, but they do not replace a car for routine errands beyond Foxland Harbor.

Quirks and Perks

Foxland’s social center has unusual historical depth for a newer master-planned community. The club occupies the restored Foxland Hall, associated with the early-19th-century Bellemont estate, so a much older landmark anchors the neighborhood’s modern golf-and-lake identity.

Foxland Harbor is best understood as a collection of neighborhoods. A gated condo enclave, an attached golf-course row, and a detached waterfront street can offer very different levels of privacy, upkeep, and social interaction even though all use the same community name.

The lake and golf course create the neighborhood’s strongest appeal, but they also introduce specialized due diligence. Dock approvals, flood exposure, shoreline management, course maintenance schedules and ball paths can matter as much as the house itself. A proposed marina with slips, residences, and commercial space generated years of discussion but was withdrawn in February 2026. Buyers should therefore ignore older descriptions that present a large Foxland Harbor marina as a planned or imminent amenity. Other developments, including Revery Waterside, continue to evolve.

Neighborhood Logistics

Foxland Harbor has a master community framework, but some sections also have condominium or subassociation documents. Assessments and included services can differ substantially. Buyers should obtain all applicable declarations, current budget, reserve information, meeting minutes, and insurance summary before closing.

Tennessee Grasslands membership is separate from HOA ownership. Initiation fees, monthly dues, waitlists, transfer rules and access privileges should be confirmed directly with the club. A home near club facilities does not by itself guarantee use of golf, pool, fitness, dining or racquet amenities. Exterior work may require architectural approval under Foxland Harbor design guidelines. Review requirements for additions, fences, pools, docks, landscaping, paint, roofing, and accessory structures before budgeting a project, and confirm whether both a master body and a sub-association must approve it.

Waterfront ownership requires separate verification. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages shoreline use at Old Hickory Lake, and private docks may be approved only in designated locations under the applicable shoreline plan. Existing permits, electrical systems, lifts, erosion controls, and maintenance obligations should be reviewed by qualified professionals.

Foxland Harbor delivers a distinctive combination of Old Hickory Lake scenery, private-club recreation and varied upscale housing. The tradeoff is complexity: The best purchase depends on matching the right section, ownership structure, amenity plan, and waterfront or golf-course conditions to the buyer’s actual lifestyle.
