Much of the now 2,400-acre Jones Valley Farm sits outside the South Huntsville suburban area, though a few acres of farmland for cattle, soybeans, and corn are still within the Jones Valley neighborhood. Safety & Walkability

Jones Valley is a relaxed, residential neighborhood with pockets of excellent pedestrian accessibility near the commercial core. There, sidewalks connect residential areas to shops and everyday conveniences, and the main arteries, Four Mile Post and Carl T. Jones Drive, connect residents to the rest of the city. The remaining neighborhood streets are generally quiet, with limited through traffic and a slower pace that supports dog walking, children playing, and local biking. 

Jones Valley maintains a suburban feel that aligns with broader trends across South Huntsville. The involved community atmosphere contributes to an environment where residents feel comfortable and connected.

Natural & Built Environment

The urbanized valley is surrounded by mountains and filled with native oak and river birch trees. Jones Family Park is the only city park in the neighborhood. There are urban trails, including the Atwood Linear Park Greenway, as well as several bike paths. 

These include Bike Route 69, which bisects the neighborhood, and Bike Route 30, which runs east to west along the far south border for miles, connecting resident bikers to the Hampton Cove neighborhood and to NASA Flight Center in the west.

Directly west is the Jones Family Park, a maintained green space with walking trails, two stocked ponds, covered picnic areas, and a connection to the Atwood Linear Park Greenway, which provides a scenic, multi-use path linking Jones Valley residents to more Southern Huntsville destinations such as Valley Hill Country Club.

All Jones Valley residents are a short walk or drive to The Ledges. The membership-only club sits on the highest point in Huntsville, so the views from the golf course and 36,000 square foot clubhouse are spectacular. The club hosts regular special events for members, including magic shows and jazz brunches.  

Schools & Education

Jones Valley is served by the Huntsville City Schools (HSC), a large district with a near-97% graduation rate, well above the national average. Most of the neighborhood is zoned for Jones Valley Elementary School, and students continue to Huntsville Junior High School, then Huntsville High School, a well-regarded campus known for its strong academics and extracurricular programs. A small collection of homes in the west may be zoned for Whitesburg Middle School and Whitesburg Elementary School.

Randolph School is a private, well-regarded K-12 school that is walkable for some Jones Valley residents. Younger children may also benefit from Mayfair Child Development Center, a respected private, Restorationist preschool and kindergarten.

Commuting & Location

Jones Valley has easy access to greater Huntsville via Memorial Parkway, which runs along its western border and connects the neighborhood with I-565 for regional travel. Bailey Cove Road bisects the neighborhood and connects residents to the rest of South Huntsville.
