The Victor Valley offers a full measure of wellness options.
Victor Valley residents and businesses enjoy access to quality health care, including a roster of standout health systems that offer the full range of treatments and programs to promote healthy living.
The region’s vast health care network is anchored by highly regarded hospitals, such as Victor Valley Global Medical Center in Victorville, Desert Valley Hospital in Victorville and St. Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley. St. Mary’s recently expanded its medical services by opening a 12,500-square-foot urgent care center.
Another health system with a strong presence here is Kaiser Permanente, with medical offices in Victorville and mental health services in Hesperia. The provider added a medical office building in Hesperia in December 2020.
The building features 30 provider offices, offering a range of on-site primary and specialty care services. Also located on the premises are a pharmacy, a laboratory, a diagnostic imaging center, optometry offices and a conference center.
As part of the construction, 14 endangered Joshua trees on the property were relocated so they wouldn’t be impacted during the construction phase, and three of the trees were returned during the medical building’s final landscaping plan.
The region is also blanketed with a network of clinics and specialty medical providers. One of the largest is Heritage Victor Valley Medical Group. The provider has added a state-of-the-art fitness center that is scheduled to open when California’s COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
“We are ready to open,” says George Mangum, fitness director for Heritage Victor Valley Medical Group.
The fitness center is on the Heritage campus in Victorville. Mangum says the facility is called FIT House, an acronym for Fitness before Intervention or Treatment.
“We want our members to have a fit lifestyle to create longevity and give them a better quality of life, instead of depending so much on doctors and medicines,” he says. “FIT House will become a national leader in the growing field of clinical fitness and awareness.”
The center will feature workouts on all levels, and members can consult with coaches, nutritionists, psychological counselors and other professional staffers. Mangum says FIT House is designed for everyone. “We are here to help every person, wherever they are in their wellness situation,” Magnum says.

Since 1992, High Desert Farmers Market has been a fixture in the region and continues its year-round selling tradition every Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon at Victor Valley College. All produce is grown by California farmers. On-site are information booths that provide customers with information on how to shop for, store and cook fresh food, as well as recipe cards.
