Sky Ridge Medical Center

Sky Ridge Medical Center celebrated its 15th anniversary in the community in 2018. The first hospital to open in Douglas County, Sky Ridge has continued to expand its services. For example, the hospital recently opened a new Hybrid OR suite, the first of its kind in south metro Denver, and is now performing more complex vascular surgery. This 3,980-square-foot OR suite combines the traditional features of an operating room with more advanced imaging technology, providing greater flexibility for surgeons.

“Over the past year, Sky Ridge has increased its technology prowess with the purchase of Veran technology for the earlier detection of lung cancer, the Mazor X system for enhanced precision in spine surgery, a third Xi robot for minimally invasive surgical techniques and the most advanced linear accelerator, the first in Colorado, for the treatment of cancer,” says Linda Watson, director of marketing and public relations for the medical center.

In addition to providing high-quality health care, Watson says Sky Ridge is an important community partner.

“Sky Ridge believes in giving back. Our tax dollars are invested in public safety and education in the county, and we contribute to a variety of nonprofit organizations in our community,” Watson says. “We’re proud to provide education, free screenings and support groups to our neighbors, helping keep our community healthy.”

Likewise, Castle Rock Adventist Hospital has integrated the idea of community health into the design of both its menu of services and its facility.

“Castle Rock Adventist Health Campus sits on a prominent ridge visible from Interstate 25 with panoramic views of the Rocky Mountain ranges. The hospital lobby is a dramatic four-story welcoming center that is washed with natural light,” says Christine Alexander, director of marketing and public relations for the hospital. “The integration of natural light and art creates unique spaces and an environment that enhances health and wellness not only in the public areas of the hospital but in each patient room. Additionally, a community art gallery allows local artists to show their custom artwork in a gallery adjacent to the hospital.”

Alexander says the whole-person care philosophy is the cornerstone of wellness for Adventist Health System and Castle Rock Adventist Hospital. For example, the hospital features a community Garden of Eatin’, where members of the community can rent one of 95 raised garden plots to grow fresh fruits and vegetables. The hospital’s Manna Restaurant, a full-service modern dining room with wait staff, serves a menu featuring vegetables and herbs from the community garden.

The hospital also sponsors Castle Rock Free Cycle, a free community bike rental program.

In 2017, the hospital opened a second, three-story medical office building on the campus, which enhances the opportunities for physicians expanding their practice in the Castle Rock area, and, in 2018, Castle Rock Adventist opened a fifth operating room.

“With the addition of complex spine surgeons, orthopedic surgery and general surgeons, this expansion further supports the growth and ability to continue to recruit key surgeons to the hospital medical staff and continue to complement growth in the greater Castle Rock area,” Alexander says.
