We touched on this already, but you can’t overlook the convenience of living within an easy commute of booming metropolitan areas like Dallas and Fort Worth, especially when you remember that DFW International Airport is delightfully close. These two cities boast world-class museums, the historic stockyards, vibrant arts districts and some of the finest Tex-Mex cuisine in the country. But how nice would it be to enjoy everything they offer without the drawbacks of living in a crowded city? Plus, Flower Mound’s close proximity to the DFW Metroplex makes the city a center for business — more than 2,000 businesses operate here.

If you would rather keep your feet on dry ground, the lake has nearly 10 miles of wilderness trails waiting to be explored on foot or bicycle, such as North Shore Trail, Meadowmere Park Trail and Vineyards Campground Nature Trail. You can also find plenty of parks and green spaces to explore along the shoreline, as well as a nearby golf course.

You don’t have to leave town to pick up groceries or find local amenities to enjoy. For starters, there are literally dozens of parks in the community. A few favorites include Stone Creek Park, Rheudasil Park and Heritage Park, which often hosts annual local events. Many feature picnic tables and playgrounds, making the city ideal for young families to raise their children. There are also several sports fields within city limits, like the soccer fields and baseball diamonds at Bakersfield Park and Chinn Chapel Soccer Complex.

The renowned Flower Mound Smoke & Whiskey Fest also features three whiskey-tasting sessions, live music, vendors and a People’s Choice BBQ competition.
Young families have plenty to look forward to with their children, too. The annual Concerts in the Park series features family-friendly music and food trucks at Heritage Park during May. The Easter Egg Scramble is a yearly tradition that invites children of all ages to indulge in egg hunts and games.
