One of the many perks to living in Greeley is its proximity to top-notch skiing destinations, which makes it easy for residents to hit the slopes – a luxury many people across the U.S. wish they had. Read on to learn about 10 ski resorts within a three-hour drive of Greeley, and get ready to plan a day-trip or weekend getaway.

1. Eldora Mountain Resort

Just an hour and half away, Eldora Mountain Resort is the destination most convenient to Greeley residents. Visitors can ski, snowboard or snowshoe on its 680 snowy acres, and those feeling brave can traverse the Corona Bowl, the resort’s most difficult trail.

2. Beaver Meadows Resort Ranch

Also fairly close to Greeley is Beaver Meadows Resort Ranch, located in Red Feather Lakes. In addition to skiing and snowshoeing, the resort offers opportunities for snow tubing, ice skating and ice fishing. If you’re visiting between November 19th and Christmas Eve, you can find your perfect Christmas tree at Beaver Meadows, too.

3. Echo Mountain Resort

Echo Mountain Resort, located about 100 miles away in Idaho Springs, is a small, family-operated resort.  The mountain has a learning area for beginners, as well as several trails for intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders. Newbies can also take advantage of the resort’s affordable, two-hour lessons, which take place twice each day they’re open.

4. Loveland Ski Area

Loveland Ski Area, located in Dillon (about 115 miles from Greeley), offers 1,800 acres of snowy terrain. Loveland says they have “more snow than any Front Range or Summit County resort” – they typically average 35 feet of snow every season – and because of this, they’re one of the first resorts in the U.S. to open and one of the last to close each year.

5. Snowy Range Ski and Recreation Area

Although it’s in Centennial, Wyo., Snowy Range Ski and Recreation Area is only a couple of hours from Greeley. Located in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, Snowy Range includes trails for all skill levels and a terrain park with rails, jumps and more. Looking for a place to warm up? Visit the on-site Happy Jake Cafe and Libby Creek Bar & Restaurant to grab a bite or a hot drink.

6. Winter Park Resort

Just less than two and a half hours from Greeley, Winter Park Resort has plenty of options for everyone. The resort’s Seven Territories, which cover 3,081 acres, include panoramic bowl skiing, jumps and jibs, world-famous bumps and everything in between. Skiing lessons are available, as well as activities like snow tubing and ice skating.

7. Copper Mountain Ski Resort

Copper Mountain Ski Resort, also less than two and a half hours from Greeley, is home to 140 trails and 2,465 acres of skiable terrain. Visitors can enjoy snowshoeing, tubing, snowmobiling, ice skating and sleigh rides, and the on-site athletic club has a 25-yard swimming pool, hot tubs, fitness facilities and racquetball courts. Spa services, such as facials and massages, are also available.

8. Keystone Resort

Keystone Resort, the largest night skiing operation in Colorado, is 135 miles from Greeley. It lays claim to the largest mountain in Summit County, with 3,148 skiable acres, 20 lifts and two gondolas. The resort’s 60-acre terrain park has more than 100 features, while its five-acre ice skating rink is the largest Zamboni-maintained outdoor rink in North America.

9. Breckenridge Ski Resort

Approximately 140 miles from Greeley is Breckenridge Ski Resort, which has 187 trails for skiing and snowshoeing on nearly 3,000 acres. The resort also features four terrain parks and two half-pipes, as well as a ski and snowboard school for learners of all ages and skill levels.

10. Ski Cooper

It’s nearly three hours from Greeley, but Ski Cooper is worth the drive. The resort is in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, and unlike some of its larger competitors, it offers a more peaceful experience with fewer crowds and shorter lines. Ski Cooper has 39 trails on 400 acres, and it offers snowcat tours on its 2,600-acre Chicago Ridge.
