Dig into the Magic Valley's best dining, drinks, music and events.
Downtown and the Arts
To get a feel for the culture of each community, consider the heart and arts of each. Many of the region’s downtown districts such as Burley, Rupert and the recently revamped downtown Twin Falls, are buzzing with specialty shops and independent restaurants. The downtowns of Gooding and Shoshone are notable for their history and, speaking of history, check the calendar of Rupert’s circa 1920 Wilson Theatre or Oakley’s circa 1907 Howells Opera House to attend a live theater or music performance. Other excellent venues for performing arts include the King Fine Arts Center in Burley and the CSI Fine Arts Center in Twin Falls.
Burgers and Brews
Dining out covers the spectrum here, but just about every community has a place (or several) for pulling up a chair and diving into the hard-to-beat combo of good company, an icy cold beer and a hot, juicy burger. For local brews, head to Magic Valley Brewing (be sure to order the mac and cheese as your side) in Buhl or Soldier Creek Brewing Company in Fairfield. Twin Falls choices include Scooter’s, The Twin Falls Sandwich Company, Guppie’s Hot Rod Grille, The Burger Stop, The GR, Anchor Bistro & Bar, Jakers Bar & Grill, Elevation 486 and Canyon Crest. In Hagerman, options include The Riverboat Restaurant and Snake River Grill; in Heyburn, head to Stevo’s; in Gooding, try Stampede Burger; in Burley, choose between Morey’s Steakhouse or The Dry Dock & Snake River Queen; and in Rupert, stop in Henry’s at the Drift Inn.
Evening entertainment in the Magic Valley can involve the simple pleasure of sipping wine while watching the sunset paint the sky at Elevation 486 or the high energy of dancing the night away at The Rouge, both in Twin Falls. Enjoy a few brews in laid-back, pub-style environments at O’Dunken’s or Anchor Bistro in Twin Falls, Wilson’s Club in Hagerman, The Asylum or Riverside Bar in Burley, the Iron Horse Saloon in Shoshone and The Eagle’s Nest in Dietrich. Many of these places book live bands or host karaoke nights for those feeling musical. Another tip is to check the calendar of events for touring music artists and other live performances, such as at the Wilson Theater in Rupert.
