Glasgow

In addition to popular chain restaurants, Glasgow has a collection of locally-owned, independent establishments.

Micqueal’s Bistro and Catering

Owner Michael Matthews had been in the food and beverage industry for over 20 years before he decided to “do his own thing” and opened Micqueal’s in June 2013. “I like to give customers something they’ve never had before – something the chains can’t offer,” says the 13-year Glasgow resident, who describes his restaurant as “unique for the Glasgow area.” The best-selling menu item is the roasted turkey sandwich, which comes topped with bacon, avocado, brie and an orange-peach spread. The chicken and brie salad and stuffed portabella mushrooms are also popular.

Annie’s Country Cooking

Annie’s Country Cooking is the go-to place in Glasgow for comfort foods like fried chicken, meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Though the restaurant has only been open since 2010, co-owner Diana “Annie” Rowlett boasts decades of experience cooking for her large family.

Plum Yum Frozen Yogurt

Plum Yum Frozen Yogurt is a family-owned and -operated yogurt shop that allows customers to create their own low-fat or non-fat soft-serve desserts. Start with one of more than three dozen yogurt flavors (including key lime, chocolate mint, pumpkin pie and cheesecake), and then choose from among more than 30 toppings. The shop also includes a café, which serves breakfast items, as well as sandwiches, wraps and salads.

A Little Taste of Texas

A Little Taste of Texas is a cozy little steakhouse on South Broadway, one that earns rave reviews for both its food and atmosphere. Appetizers include fried cheese, fried mushrooms and fried pickles, but it’s the salad and steaks – especially the rib-eye and filet mignon – that keep customers coming back again and again.
