Things To Do in Bozeman, MT

Food, culture and outdoor recreation provide things to do in Bozeman, MT.

By Carol Cowan on September 5, 2017

Bozeman’s reputation for outdoor adventure is known the world over. What may not be as well known are all the other things to do and see (and eat!) in this bustling regional hub.

Local Flavor

International cuisine from sushi to gumbo complements authentic Western fare, including bison and trout, at Bozeman restaurants. Breakfast and lunch get unique treatment at quirky, locally owned joints Cateye Café and the famous Granny’s Gourmet Donuts. Montana Ale Works serves artfully crafted pub grub along with Montana micro-brewed beer.  The Community Food Co-Op natural foods market and deli has seating with a spectacular view of the Bridger Mountains.

Why Bozeman, MT is a Best Place to Live

Cultural Attractions

Downtown Bozeman is a happening place, with the Tuesday evening Bogert Farmers Market, Music on Main on Thursdays, and a Friday night Art Walk in the summer, and the annual Christmas Stroll in the winter. And that’s in addition to the galleries and boutiques that are open on the city’s historic Main Street year round.

High culture is alive and well among the city’s active theater companies and the Intermountain Opera Bozeman, which performs downtown in the historic Willson Auditorium. The exquisitely restored Ellen Theatre is another concert venue downtown, and the American Indian Council of MSU Pow Wow takes place on the Montana State University campus each spring.

The Museum of the Rockies and the Children’s Museum of Bozeman are just two of several museums here.

Finally, mountain biking the Bangtail Trail; fishing the Gallatin, Madison or Yellowstone rivers; skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling; and scenic day trips galore rank among Bozeman’s popular recreational activities.
