1. North 40 Outfitters
This popular Great Falls-based retailer bills itself as having everything for area farmers, fishers, ranchers, pet lovers, recreationists, gardeners, hunters and the workforce.
And with departments like apparel, pet and animal, home and garden, automotive and tools, you are sure to find what you need. North 40 Outfitters has locations in East Great Falls and West Great Falls.
“I enjoy shopping there 2-3 times a month for clothes,” says Anna Filipowicz, a legal assistant in Great Falls. “They have a wide selection, from jeans to concert clothes to date night clothing.”
2. Scheels
Wide selections of sporting goods, sports apparel and footwear are sold at Scheels, which started in Great Falls in 1968 and now operates from a 100,000-square-foot store in Holiday Village Mall. The company also offers services like bike repairs, skate sharpening, racquet stringing, and ski and snowboard waxing.
3. Planet Earth
Quirky and fun are two words to describe Planet Earth, a funky shop full of novel items that are sure to make unique gifts for just about anyone on your list. Think vintage clothing, bauble jewelry, unusual notecards, one-of-a-kind purses, ladies’ hats, mix your- own fragrances, home décor items and books.
4. Dragonfly Dry Goods
The largest Montanathemed gift store in the state is Dragonfly Dry Goods, which features clothing, home goods, baby items, seasonal décor and an extensive collection of Fly London shoes in different styles and colors. Made in Montana goods sold here include cookies, artwork, jewelry, pottery, apparel, coffee, craft beers and more.
5. The Blue Rose
Located on Central Avenue downtown, The Blue Rose boasts designer clothing in a variety of styles for men and women. Designer name brands include Johnny Was and Velvet by Graham & Spencer, as well as accessories like Love Heals jewelry, Free People footwear and Frye Ilana handbags.
“I go clothes shopping at The Blue Rose and like all their quality items, ranging from classic styles to newer items, that add a little pop to my wardrobe,” says Tamy Scholten, an anesthesiologist in Great Falls.
6. Sora and Co.
Located downtown between Planet Earth and JJs Bakery, Sora and Co. is a boutique clothing shop that also features a hair salon and makeup counter. A beer and wine bar is also on-site. As for clothing, Sora and Co. carries apparel for adults and children, along with an assortment of accessories and shoes.
7. Klover
With boutique clothing for women, men and children, Klover also features a wide selection of shoes and accessories. The shop, located on First Avenue North, stocks several Montana brands of apparel and jewelry and offers free one-hour appointments for customers with shopping questions.
8. Daydream Boutique
Established in 2015, Daydream Boutique specializes in women’s clothing as well as jewelry, handbags, shoes and other items. Casual and professional wear items can be found here.
9. Kaufmans Menswear
Open in Great Falls since 1895, the current Kaufmans Menswear store on Central Avenue is the company’s ninth location. Kaufmans sells it all, from socks to jeans to suits and everything in between, and the store can fit all men’s sizes, from regulars to big and tall.
10. Ferrin’s Furniture
A retailing fixture for more than a century, Ferrin’s is located in a historic building in downtown Great Falls that opened as a hotel in 1913. Today, Ferrin’s offers five floors of furniture. The top two floors are set up as individual “room-like” settings to give shoppers a better representation of what a vignette might look like in their home.
