With an eclectic roster of restaurants – from mom-and-pop dives to white-tablecloth eateries – Asheville rightly earns the moniker Foodtopia.
Founded in 2013, Biscuit Head promises to “put some South in your mouth.” The restaurant’s three locations are a testament to the popularity of BH’s biscuits. Green Sage Cafe is another inspired choice, revered for its healthy dishes, emphasis on sustainability and unique shakes and smoothies. Voted best bakery in Asheville two years in a row by the Mountain Xpress, Well-Bred Bakery & Cafe offers a large and varied menu of baked goods – from scones and muffins for breakfast to sandwiches on fresh-baked croissants for lunch. The bakery also serves gourmet coffee from local roasters.
Get It To Go
In a hurry? No time to cook? Stop by 67 Biltmore downtown and take home the eatery’s “good-as-homemade” casseroles and lasagna. Pick up a New York-style pie at one of Marco’s Pizzeria’s two locations or a pulled pork sandwich from Luella’s BBQ, slathered in Sweet Pisgah, Scooter’s Vinegar or another signature sauce. Grab a made-to-order sandwich or burger from Roman’s deli downtown or choose from a number of restaurants that deliver from Takeout Central.
