You don’t have to go to a big concert venue to hear live music in Elizabeth City, NC, especially if you prefer a laid-back, chill listening experience. There are plenty of amazing places to get your music fix. Here are some local favorites to add to your list.

1) Seven Sounds Brewing Co.

A waterfront brewery, Seven Sounds Brewing Co. has an incredible indoor and outdoor space that is frequently filled with the sweet sounds of music. The venue is booked to the brim with all types of musicians taking the stage, from duos to cover bands. And you’ll hear everything from rock ’n’ roll to the blues, country and so much more.

2) 2 Souls Wine Bar

Head to 2 Souls Wine Bar for its free Lingerin’ Live Fridays, where local musicians play for a few hours. Many different artists comprise the lineup, though jazz night is a particular favorite of regulars. Whether you’re meeting up with friends or looking for a good spot for date night, a delicious red or white always pairs nicely with good music.

3) Arts of the Albemarle

If you want a full and immersive arts experience, make sure to check out Third Thursday Music at Arts of the Albemarle

“We try to change up the genre each month so that we offer a diverse pool of music,” says Lauren Luther, executive director of the Arts of the Albemarle. “It’s a nice, casual, free evening for people to walk around and enjoy music and art.”

4) Ghost Harbor Brewing Co. and Pailin’s Alley

Ghost Harbor Brewing Co. and the adjacent Pailin’s Alley are excellent spots to check out when you’re looking for live music. There’s often some kind of music happening, whether that’s Wailin’ Wednesdays, where musicians rock out, or individual artists who are scheduled to perform in the taproom.

5) Pine & Porch

What started as a home decor shop with a craft beer and wine bar in the back has grown into an Elizabeth City phenomenon – a place where people come and gather to shop and listen to music. Originally, musicians would perform in the small outdoor space in the back, but they recently expanded and built an entire stage, reaffirming a dedication to providing a place for live music to thrive. Pine & Porch is run by a husband-and-wife duo.

6) River City Biergarten

This bed and breakfast opens its common space to the public.

“They have a really cute courtyard downstairs with an intimate vibe and setting,” Luther says.

The cozy setting is perfect for easy listening, and River City Biergarten regularly schedules musicians to come and play on weekend evenings.

7) Music on the Green

Held on Tuesday nights in August and September at Mariners’ Wharf Park, Music on the Green is a free outdoor music series that people of all ages love. Each event takes place from 6-8 p.m., and food and drinks are available on-site.

8) College of The Albemarle Performing Arts Center

The College of The Albemarle Performing Arts Center offers a season of live music each year, with performances from a Motown band and The United States Army Band & Chorus (among others) happening in 2025. These events are concert/symphonic forms of live entertainment.
