3. Drinks at Death & Taxes in Reno, Nevada

Drinks at a true Reno speakeasy makes for the perfect evening – and we have just the place. Death & Taxes is a cool cocktail bar, whose black walls and furniture are delicately illuminated by warm-light chandeliers. Arrive early to grab a leather couch and cozy up to the fireplace.

Although you’ll find wine and beer on the menu, the establishment’s craft cocktails steal the show. Organized by types of liquor, the menu makes for easy ordering and plenty of ice breakers. Quick recommendation: Order a Friday’s Child, a combination of gin, aloe, mint, white port, clarified pineapple and lime.

4. Bottomless Mimosas at Land Ocean in Reno, Nevada

If you’re looking for a spot where you can linger for a while, head to brunch at Land Ocean. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, savor bottomless mimosas as sparks (fingers crossed) fly. Breakfast options include delicious crème brûlée French toast with crispy bacon and the Land Ocean Benedict, which includes a beef tenderloin benedict and a lump crab benedict with country potatoes.

Since 1998, Whispering Vine Wine Co. has been Reno’s premier wine and spirits purveyor. It offers a rotating wine selection of thousands of labels and an ever-expanding selection of spirits. The West Fourth Street location is well-appointed and specializes in select bites, charcuterie boards, salads, soups and sides. A few menu items you and your date need to try are the tater tots with truffle salt and a house buttermilk dipping sauce, coconut shrimp served on a bed of Asian slaw and the chocolate mousse with shaved chocolate. Best of all, the staff is always ready to help you pair your dish with the perfect pour.

7. Dinner at the Lone Eagle Grille near Reno, Nevada

Lone Eagle Grille is the perfect spot to fall in love with nature – and perhaps your dinner guest.

Here, you two can enjoy delicious food and drinks with a spectacular backdrop of Lake Tahoe.

9. Walking Around Truckee near Reno, Nevada

If you and your special someone are looking for more of a day trip, head to historic Truckee, CA, which is a 45-minute drive from Reno. Its downtown radiates 19th century mountain charm and is renowned as “the most historical square mile in California.”

Truckee dates to 1844 and once served as a crucial stopover point for early emigrant trains. Today, you’ll find a charming mix of boutiques, souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants – it’s perfect for a romantic getaway.
