Biggest Businesses keep Broken Arrow's economy balanced.

The economy of Broken Arrow is right on the money these days, with a diversity of jobs that make it easy for employees to work in career fields they enjoy. The city’s two largest public employers are Broken Arrow Public Schools with 2,090 employees and the City of Broken Arrow with 675, while 20 private companies have workforces of at least 200 employees.

Here is a brief rundown of the top seven private employers in Broken Arrow:


The major retailer has 900 employees in Broken Arrow who staff three 24-hour supercenters located on S. Elm Place, E. Hillside Drive and W. Kenosha Street. In November 2014, the company added a new Walmart Neighborhood Market on W. Houston Street, which is also open 24 hours with 95 employees. The Neighborhood Market is a newer concept by Walmart that features a supercenter on a smaller scale.

Northeastern State University

With its main campus in nearby Tahlequah, Northeastern State University also has campuses in Broken Arrow and Muskogee, with the Broken Arrow site opening in 2002. NSU employs an overall workforce of 800, and the Broken Arrow campus can accommodate 5,000 students thanks to three classroom buildings, an administrative building, a science and health professions center, and library.

FlightSafety International

With 715 employees in Broken Arrow, FlightSafety International has provided aviation and safety training for pilots, flight attendants, dispatchers and maintenance technicians ever since the company began in 1951. The company uses high-tech simulators to serve customers from 150 countries, and FlightSafety technicians can train pilots to fly 135 types of commercial, corporate, private and military aircraft.


Industrial low-emission gas burners used in the refining, petrochemical, production, power and pharmaceutical industries is what Zeeco and 487 employees manufacture at their Broken Arrow headquarters. Besides a manufacturing plant, Zeeco operates a combustion research and testing facility, and the company has grown to establish offices in more than 40 countries.

Oxford HealthCare

Helping elderly and disabled citizens stay in their homes as long as possible by providing home care assistance has been the mission of Oxford HealthCare since it started in 1991. The company has 460 employees in Broken Arrow and is one of the largest home care providers in Oklahoma, with a goal to only hire people who have a true heart for caring.


Serving oil and gas producing customers throughout the world, Exterran and its 350 employees in Broken Arrow and 10,000 around the world provide equipment and engineering solutions for industries involved in petroleum production, gas processing or water treatment plants. The workforce in Broken Arrow includes engineers, fabrication specialists and site installers.


In 1997, MicahTek opened a facility in Broken Arrow and today employs 350 people who oversee call center services along with data processing and other telecommunications operations. The company has several corporate customers and recently branched into website design and development as part of its portfolio.
