Greenville provides students with a range of high-quality education options. Greenville County Schools is the largest public school system in the state and 45th nationwide, and nearly 60 private schools are in the region.

Unique educational opportunities are also available, as the area is home to 11 magnet academies (9 of which are in Greenville) as well as the state’s premier school for the artistically talented, South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities.

Once students finish high school, they do not have to move out of the region to continue their education, as a number of top colleges and universities have branch campuses in the area. For example, a number of Clemson University’s off-campus programs are located in Greenville, such as the school’s graduate-level business programs and centers.

According to the Greenville Area Development Corporation’s cost of living calculator, the cost of housing is nearly 17% lower, utilities are over 6% lower and transportation is about 4% lower than the national average.

Not only does the area boast affordability, but the plethora of outdoor recreation opportunities mean residents can stay entertained at little to no cost. Options include the area’s collection of parks, greenways and trail systems.
