Area Lakes

Love wildlife, water and walking? Then check out City and Luther lakes. City Lake is a 27-acre waterway with a handicap-accessible fishing pier and boat ramps, and 14-acre Luther Lake offers fishing, wildlife viewing, hiking and walking.

Rec Center

The Lester Speyer Community Recreational Complex is equipped with adult softball fields, basketball courts, weightlifting and wellness facilities, and a 10,000-square-foot playground with sand surface. The complex also houses Tennsco Community Center, a 7,600-square-foot facility available for wedding receptions, reunions, corporate functions and more, with seating for 700.

Youth Sports

Many youth leagues thrive throughout the community, including Dickson County Youth Athletic Association that offers girls’ softball and boys’ baseball for players 4 to 19 years old. Kids who love to kick the ball can join a team managed by the Dickson County Soccer Association, and the Dickson Dolphins Junior Pro Football League plays their games at J. Dan Buckner Park. At Buckner Pool, swimmers can compete in the Summer Swim League, and other groups include the South Dickson County Basketball League and the Burns Cowboys junior pro and peewee football leagues.

YMCA

A new Dickson County Family YMCA opened in late 2015 in the former Kmart building, with the new facility built with funds raised and overwhelming support from the community. The facility includes spaces for fitness rooms and classes for all skill levels as well as counseling, child care, a cafe and more.

Golf

Take a swing at one of the golf courses in the area. Greystone Golf Club is a Mark McCumber-designed championship 18-hole golf course open to the public. One of the Tennessee Golf Trail courses, Montgomery Bell in Burns was built in 1973 and features 18 holes on Bermuda grass. The 18-hole Pine Hills Golf Club, formerly known as Dickson Country Club, is another great spot for a game and also includes a card and game room.

Gyms

Open 24/7/365 is Powerhouse Gym, a facility with a roomful of workout equipment that is available for members or walk-in guests. Dickson Athletic Club has plenty of cardiovascular and weight training equipment along with a hot tub and swimming pool, and The TakeOver offers personal training and group exercise classes for all fitness levels.
