If you thought you needed to travel outside Williamson County to receive excellent health care, think again.

Williamson Health offers services at more than 30 different locations in Williamson County, TN, specializing in virtually every area of health care, from cardiology and obstetrics to primary care and orthopedics to emergency services and advanced surgical technologies.

“Our organization turned 65 years old in 2023, and what started as a small community hospital has grown into a full-service, regional health care system providing exceptional care with more than 2,100 employees and 860 physicians and advanced care practitioners,” says Michele Simpson, director of marketing and communications for Williamson Health. “We are proud of our long-standing tradition of providing high-quality and compassionate care to Williamson County and the surrounding areas.”

A part of the commitment to achieve its mission of providing care for this community is a transformational expansion and renovation project to keep pace with Williamson County’s population, which is projected to double by the year 2040.

“We are growing alongside the communities we serve to ensure we’re able to provide extraordinary care for many generations to come,” Simpson says.

In January 2023, organization officials announced that its network of health care services and providers would be united under one new brand: Williamson Health.

During the announcement, Williamson Health Chief Executive Officer Phil Mazzuca said, “The new brand better reflects who we are today and where we’re headed in the future.”

Williamson Health provides care through the Williamson Medical Center (WMC) acute-care hospital, the Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee, The Turner-Dugas Breast Health Center, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital Vanderbilt at Williamson Medical Center, physician practices that are strategically located throughout the community, countywide Emergency Medical Services (EMS) that include 18 rapid response units, outpatient imaging and lab services, Williamson Health Foundation, and multiple joint-venture Vanderbilt Health and Williamson Medical Center Walk-In Clinics in Williamson County.

“Each part of the Williamson Health organization offers unique health care services, but all are united by a shared purpose: to provide the highest level of care possible to Williamson County residents and surrounding communities,” says Mazzuca. “We want residents to know they can get world-class health care right here at home, without having to leave the county.”

Founded in 1958, Williamson Medical Center is Williamson Health’s flagship facility, already offering extensive women’s services, state-of-the-art cardiology services, advanced surgical technologies, award-winning obstetrics and NICU, leading-edge orthopedics, outpatient imaging services, and comprehensive emergency and inpatient services for adult and pediatric patients. The hospital’s $200 million expansion and renovation project will be completed in multiple stages.

In May 2023, Williamson Health celebrated the completion of the first phase of its Emergency Room (ER) expansion with a ribbon-cutting event, where the festivities were kicked off by celebrity supporters Luke Bryan and Darrell Waltrip.

The first ER milestone includes a larger waiting room, 10 new exam rooms, a new registration desk with three private stations and a private family gathering room, among other improvements and additions. When the total ER project is completed in May 2024, the new Adult ER will increase its capacity from 28 to 43 beds.

In June 2023, Williamson Medical Center unveiled its new 11-bed postpartum unit and newborn nursery for new mothers and babies. The first moms and babies to occupy the new postpartum rooms were given celebratory gift baskets from the Williamson Health Foundation, which included a selection of special items from the hospital’s newly renovated gift shop, along with a handwritten note from Caroline Bryan, co-chair of the “More for You. Close to Home.” capital campaign that is raising funds to support this historic expansion and renovation project.

Additional phases will be completed in 2024 and 2025. Williamson Medical Center’s West Tower is expanding from three floors to six floors and adding a six-story north wing. The north wing includes 72 medical/surgical private inpatient beds, a 22-bed observation unit and a new, 35-bed intensive care unit and large ICU public waiting area.

The new construction will be complete at the end of 2024, and then the patient areas in the current hospital will move over to the new space so that the existing area can be renovated. The renovation of the existing facility will complete the project, which will be finished by the end of 2025.

Williamson Health Is Committed to Williamson County

Williamson Health has deep roots in the community, and Williamson Medical Center remains its centerpiece. But the organization is investing resources throughout Williamson County — from Nolensville to Fairview, Spring Hill to Brentwood and every community in between.

Growing neighborhoods have necessitated more EMS units, outpatient services and physician offices nearer to these families. Williamson Health’s orthopedic partner, the Bone and Joint Institute, is meeting patients where they live with additional urgent care clinics and rehab services. Schools and community events benefit from the health system’s many sponsorships to support the health and well-being of all people.

“Williamson Health is expanding throughout Williamson County to bring exceptional care to residents no matter where they are,” Simpson says. “For your health care needs, whether small or large, we have you covered close to home.”
