Blount County is blessed with an abundance of quality health and wellness choices, including access to the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital and the Mayo Clinic.

The independent Blount Memorial Hospital, a comprehensive short-term, 304-bed acute care facility, recently became the only hospital in Tennessee to be a part of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, a select group of independent health systems that are granted special access to the Mayo Clinic Care Network’s extensive knowledge and world-leading medical expertise.

Newsweek named the Mayo Clinic in 2021 as the top hospital in the world. Local physicians can participate in information-sharing and integrated care benefiting their patients at no additional cost.

Excellent Cancer Care in Blount County

Also a leader in cancer care, the Blount Memorial Cancer Center, located on the hospital’s main campus, provides a one-stop address for inpatient and outpatient oncology services to diagnose and treat all types of cancer.

“Continuously improving the health of our community is our mission at Blount Memorial Hospital, and it’s a mission we’ve had the honor to deliver on for nearly 75 years,” CEO Don Heinemann says. “As the health needs of our community change, we plan for and change to support them. That’s why we’re always working to bring our patients new technologies, a growing number of physician specialties and resources for overall health and wellness outside of the medical setting.”

On the horizon are plans for the hospital’s 75th anniversary in 2022, celebrating a rich tradition of helping the community reach its highest potential for good health.
