The Soup Kitchen

Warm up at The Soup Kitchen, where eight soups are offered daily, such as potato cheddar, cabbage kielbasa and hearty vegetable. Serving lunch and dinner, the restaurant also features homemade bread, salads, sandwiches and desserts including chocolate chip cookies, carrot cake and coconut cream pie.

Calhoun’s

At Calhoun’s, located on Melton Lake Peninsula (where the now-closed Riverside Grille and Flatwater Grill used to be), each table offers diners a view of the water – so there’s not a bad seat in the entire restaurant. Open in Oak Ridge since June 2016, Calhoun’s, accessible by boat, serves a variety of American favorites like hamburgers, barbecue and wings.

Aubrey’s

Aubrey’s creates its menu items with locally sourced meats, fruit and vegetables, making each dish fresh and flavorful. The dining spot’s diverse lunch and dinner options include citrus-glazed salmon, lemon-lime chicken, rattlesnake pasta and peanut-crusted catfish, and sides such as red pepper bisque and Parmesan spinach.

Hibachi Pizza

In nearby Oliver Springs, Hibachi Pizza serves up New York-style pizzas with a Japanese twist. The usual suspects, like pepperoni and Hawaiian varieties, are on the menu as well as a unique Hibachi pizza that includes a teriyaki base and such toppings as chicken, mushrooms, sautéed zucchini and onions.

Fulin’s Asian Cuisine

Get your fill of authentic Chinese and Japanese food at Fulin’s Asian Cuisine. The restaurant’s expansive menu features sushi – which many Yelp reviewers say is the best in the region – as well as sashimi, teriyaki chicken and Singapore-style rice noodles. Still hungry? Try one of Fulin’s tasty desserts, such as fried banana ice cream and Tempura cheesecake.

Buddy’s Bar-b-q

Visit Buddy’s Bar-b-q’s Oak Ridge location for a pork, chicken, ham or turkey sandwich, and pair it with a side or two, like potato salad and corn on the cob. Those feeding a group can opt for a family pack or order ‘cue by the pound, and sides are available in bulk.

B&B BarBQ

Although it doesn’t have a brick-and-mortar location, B&B BarBQ is another excellent source for barbecue in Oak Ridge. Owners Lyman and Janet Bowker set up shop in busy office parking lots during lunchtime throughout the week, and they serve B&B BarBQ at events and festivals across East Tennessee.

J&M’s Butcher Shop

Home cooks, you don’t want to miss out on J&M’s Butcher Shop. The family-owned store is well known for its fresh, affordable meats and produce, most of which are locally sourced. Customers can purchase each week’s catch of seafood on Fridays and Saturdays, and high-quality poultry, beef, lamb, pork, ham, bacon and deli meats are available daily. In addition, J&M’s offers cheeses, soups, coffee, baked goods, honey, meat seasonings and spices.
