Parents, students have access to good academic opportunities

El Paso, TX Community College serves more than 35,000 students annually.

You receive extra credit for knowing that El Paso and the Paso Del Norte Region offer strong educational opportunities for students of all ages.

Public Schools

Three public school districts serve the El Paso region. El Paso Independent School District, founded in 1883 and today with 9,000 employees, is the largest, with more than 60,000 students on 94 campuses; Socorro Independent School District with more than 45,200 students on 47 campuses; and Ysleta Independent School District which serves 44,000 on 62 campuses.

Private Schools

The region has many private schools, including Cathedral High School, El Paso Jewish Academy, Faith Christian Academy, Father Yermo High School, Loretto Academy, Lydia Patterson Institute, Radford School, Rose of Sharon Christian Academy and Zion Lutheran Day School.

Higher Education

When it comes to higher education, El Paso Community College ‘s five campuses serve 27,000 credit students and 8,000 continuing education students.

Three notable programs that EPCC offers through its Continuing Education Department are administered through the Contract Opportunities Center, the Small Business Development Center and the Office of Customized Training. Each helps residents start and sustain careers and businesses within the community.

University of Texas at El Paso has 23,000 students, 1,500 administrative staffers and 71 bachelor’s, 76 master’s and 20 doctoral degree programs. The beautiful campus is on hillsides overlooking the Rio Grande River. The UTEP Miners have 15 varsity sports teams.

Texas Tech University’s Health Sciences Center remains home to the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. The nursing school recently received full accreditation for its baccalaureate degree program.

University of Phoenix’s El Paso Campus offers convenient bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in business and technology. Southwest University El Paso has a variety of allied health, technology and business programs. Western Technical College is an accredited career college with more than a dozen programs ranging from electronic engineering technology to massage therapy. Southwest University El Paso has a variety of allied health, technology and business programs.

Across the border, Ciudad Juárez is home to five colleges: El Colegio de ChihuahuaInstituto Tecnológico de Ciudad Juárez, Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez, Universidad Tecnológica de Ciudad Juárez and Tecnológico de Monterrey.

Less than an hour from El Paso is New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.
