Trinity Mother Frances Hospital-Tyler
Nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report in multiple “best hospital” categories, the 404-bed Trinity Mother Frances Hospital admits about 25,000 patients each year and treats 70,000 people in its emergency care unit. The hospital has services such as trauma care, neurology, geriatrics, orthopedics and urology, and its on-campus facilities include a Louis & Peaches Owen Heart Hospital, Pat Herd Women’s Center and a Surgery Center.
Texas Spine & Joint Hospital
Headquartered in a new $27 million facility, Texas Spine & Joint Hospital uses 21st-century technology to treat all patients suffering from spinal or joint problems, with doctors using the latest noninvasive and surgical pain relief procedures. Doctors treat spine, back, joint and neck problems, and have specialists in sports medicine. Physicians at Texas Spine and Joint Hospital opt for surgery only when absolutely needed for patients.
UT Health Northeast
The only university medical center in Northeast Texas is UT Health Northeast, which is part of the reputable University of Texas System. The hospital treats about 135,000 outpatients each year, and its 109 beds accommodate more than 3,700 annual inpatient stays. Besides the academic hospital, UT Health Northeast has a Cancer Treatment and Prevention Center along with adult and pediatric lung disease specialists. In addition, 25 specialty clinics throughout the area cover everything from allergies to urology.
East Texas Medical Center Tyler
Overseeing 12 hospitals and 40 clinics is the Tyler-based East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System, and its crown jewel is East Texas Medical Center Tyler. The 464-bed hospital admits more than 20,000 inpatients each year along with about 60,000 emergency room visits, and physicians perform about 14,000 surgeries. The campus includes a cancer institute, hyperbaric medicine facility, breast care center and a cardiovascular intensive care unit. Also, a Level 1 trauma facility is designed to handle major illnesses and injuries.
