What brought you back to Tyler?
Pretty much family brought me back. Comfort.

What do you enjoy about living here?
Tyler is kind of this perfect balance of city life and country life. My family and I live five minutes from the city, but we live on land in the country, so we kind of get the best of both worlds. It’s also perfect for young families, but we also cater to the senior citizens here. It has a small-town feel, but it’s still a large city at the end of the day.

How would you describe the community and its residents?
We’re still growing. We’re big, but the people are still small town, and nice and friendly. I think that surprises a lot of people.

What’s your favorite restaurant, and how much would an average dinner cost?

For girls’ night, there’s one called Twelve. The owners just do a fabulous job. They really work well with training the staff right, the quality of food and just having a unique menu. It’s very affordable. You can get an adult beverage, an appetizer and a meal for probably $35. I just love it. For date night, my husband and I love Texas de Brazil. It’s a place where you can get away from life, kids – it’s very upscale. You can get these nice cuts of steak, the salad bar is absolutely amazing, the environment is amazing and the staff is amazing. It’s about $50 a plate. It’s worth every penny.

What’s your favorite coffee shop, and how much does your go-to drink cost?
This is a local one, and it’s called Crema Coffee Co. It’s in South Tyler. They have the best coffee. I get a sugar-free carmella. It’s kind of like a latte caramel, and it’s about $5 for a small. It just has a very unique taste to it. I mean, I love my Starbucks, but this is just a different taste.

What kind of outdoor entertainment is available in Tyler?
We have good parks and walking trails. Legacy Trail kind of connects all through our wooded areas. It’s perfect to go for a jog or to take the kids in the stroller.
