Kent Hospital’s emergency department is the second busiest in the state with 70,000 patient visits a year. So the completion of an expansion that doubled its size was a welcome addition to Warwick and Central Rhode Island. Opened in 1951 with only 90 beds, Kent Hospital grew from a suburban hospital to a regional medical hub serving one third of the state. Kent now has 359 beds and provides a full compliment of medical and surgical services including cardiology, rehabilitation, extended coronary care, obstetrics, infectious disease, oncology and orthopedics.
