Daniel Boone Pioneer Festival Is Winchester's Busiest Weekend

Mark your calendar for late August. That’s when the annual Daniel Boone Pioneer Festival takes place. The festival that began as a small arts and crafts gathering has become Winchester’s busiest weekend‚ drawing 30‚000 visitors to the community. Activities include a Friday-night street dance‚ Daniel Boone 5K run‚ talent contest‚ paint ball and an antiques road show. Leeds Center for the Arts Is Cultural Centerpiece in Downtown Winchester

Leeds Center for the Arts isn’t just for theatrical productions and concerts anymore. Grant funding has been secured to add a big screen‚ allowing the historic landmark to include movies in its entertainment repertoire. The Leeds began as a movie theater when it was built in the 1920s‚ but movies were eventually abandoned. The building had fallen into disrepair by the time it finally closed in the 1980s.
