The Natrona County Library is more than just a building for books — it’s a neighborhood cornerstone with a mission to create a more connected, thriving community in Casper, Wyoming. And for those who are new to the area, it’s the perfect place to get acquainted.

“The library is a space for everyone in the community, no matter your circumstances,” says Lisa Scroggins, the library’s Executive Director. “Our events and classes are a great opportunity for people to make connections, as well as learn and grow.”

The library offers resources that go beyond the traditional services of books and movies (although it has those, too), including the Library of Things, a collection of items such as projectors, sewing machines, tennis kits and more that can be borrowed just like books.

Visitors can receive help with real-life needs, like notarizing their important documents or even obtaining a passport. Small business owners have free services at their fingertips, including available workspace, technology, training and even unique benefits like a professional podcasting studio.

“It’s really important for us to be innovative, adaptive and responsive,” says Megan Bratton, the library’s marketing manager. “We can respond to new community needs as they arrive. We understand that in order for our community and economy to grow, we need strong local businesses. We’re excited to support them.”

The library has also adapted to the changes in health care over the past two years by launching a telehealth services initiative, where community members can receive easier access to health care resources.

“Especially in rural areas, this health care initiative will provide those people a chance to virtually speak with health care professionals in a confidential way,” Scroggins says.

The list of resources continues. Visitors of all ages can get in on the action with various and regular programs throughout the year, plus books, technology, video games and much more.
