1. Cindy’s Cafe 

This is unpretentious Southern comfort food at its best. A neighborhood favorite, especially for lunch, Cindy’s Cafe is named for its owner, Cindy Stephens, who moved from Taiwan to the U.S. in the 1980s. 

Stephens opened her cafe in 2008, and it has become a beloved staple within the community. Cindy’s Cafe is a meat-and-three-style joint, with pork chops, country fried steak, cornbread and cobbler frequently ordered. Additionally, the menu includes subs and pizza, so there’s truly something for everyone. 

2. 243 South 

Formerly Kimberlia’s, 243 South is the new concept from original co-owner Kimberly Powell and her new partners, Darin and Karen Phillips. Thanks to a complete overhaul of the building, menu and offerings, 243 South is breathing fresh air into downtown Prattville. 

The overall atmosphere is upscale yet inviting, where polish and comfort blend together seamlessly. Standout items on the menu include the juicy 243 Burger, sweet potato goat cheese fries and blackened salmon. 

3. Sushi Ro 

Authenticity and tradition are guaranteed at Sushi Ro, where bento boxes, poke bowls, sushi and other Japanese dishes are served in a casual and intimate setting. 

Though the decor is simple, the service is excellent, and the food speaks for itself. Fantastic for lunch or dinner, the restaurant uses fresh ingredients. 

4. Uncle Mick’s Cajun Market & Café 

Bringing the Louisiana bayou to Prattville, Uncle Mick’s Cajun Market & Café is in the heart of the city’s historic downtown district and is an absolute gem. Originally opened on Mardi Gras in 2009 by Mickey Thompson, the restaurant suffered a setback in August 2022 when a fire caused it to close for six months. 

However, it made a triumphant return in February of the following year. Casual, family-friendly and laid back, this establishment has so many delicious offerings on its menu, including shrimp à la creme, seafood gumbo and anything incorporating its Cajun hot sauce. 

5. West Main Coffeehouse and Creamery 

Two of the best delicacies collide at West Main Coffeehouse and Creamery, where both coffee and ice cream are on the menu. Cozy and retro with a touch of modern decor, this coffee and ice cream house is known for its flavored lattes and delicious Cammie’s Old Dutch Ice Cream. Popular favorites include the creole praline ice cream and pineapple sherbet. On the coffee side, try the Voodoo Child (lavender and vanilla) or Zulu (coconut and white chocolate) lattes. Can’t decide between coffee and ice cream? Have both by ordering West Main’s mouthwatering affogato. 

6. Oak Tavern 

Located inside the Montgomery Marriott at Capitol Hill, Oak Tavern is a laid back and polished venue that is complete with fire pits, outdoor seating and a menu full of elevated Southern and American classics. 

Best of all is the panoramic view of the Robert Trent Jones-designed golf greens. Jones designed all three courses – Judge, Legislator and Senator – at Capitol Hill. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Oak Tavern is a great place to go after a round of golf, for happy hour drinks or for a date night. You’re sure to love the fried green tomatoes or fish tacos.
