Prattville, AL, Boasts a Steady Housing Market

Bo Evans founded Bo Evans Realty in 1994, and the Prattville real estate professional says a customer’s housing dollars will still go further in Prattville/Autauga County in 2026. 

“The typical house being sold today in Prattville is about 1,800 square feet with three or four bedrooms and priced somewhere between $275,000 and $300,000,” Evans says. “That’s a good deal, and the homes are often on larger lots.” 

Evans says area buyers have several residential choices, including planned subdivisions, historic homes downtown and houses in rural settings. Bestneighborhood.org, a real estate database, says the most desired homes and neighborhoods in Prattville are often in the east parts of the city, while more affordable homes are in the northeast region. 

“Actually, our biggest problem right now is that Prattville has more buyers than sellers. We need more inventory,” Evans says. “Houses are typically on the market for about 40 days, and sellers are pretty much getting their asking price.” 

Evans adds that Prattville is attractive to homeowners for several reasons, one being lower real estate taxes. In fact, the Tax Foundation reports that Alabama had the lowest real estate taxes of any state in 2025. 

“Prattville/Autauga County is a great place to live, with good schools, wonderful parks and an attractive quality of life, including lots of things to do for young families and young professionals,” Evans says.
