Read Between the Wines: A Brentwood, TN, Bookstore Bar and More Creative Concepts
While Williamson County has many wonderful businesses, restaurants and shops, some stand out for combining multiple offerings into one creative concept.
The Raven, a bookstore-meets-cocktail bar in Brentwood, has quickly become one of the area’s most popular spots to connect, read, sip wine or do all three, all in one place.

The Call of the Wild: The Raven
Established in 2026, The Raven isn’t just a local bookstore, bar and restaurant. “It’s more of a community gathering place,” says owner and founder Danniele Reeves. “We want anyone to feel comfortable coming here, whether you’re by yourself or with your family and friends.”
Embracing this mission, The Raven hosts regular events, including trivia and game nights, book clubs, poetry readings and more.
From its Old-World aesthetic to its cozy seating, nooks and puzzle table, it’s easy to see why people would want to gather at The Raven. “Inside has a dark academia vibe, like the pubs you’d find in Europe,” Reeves says. “I was that nerdy kid in high school who loved Shakespeare and Poe. The Raven is still my favorite poem.”
Customers can enjoy a full bar of signature cocktails, beer and wine, plus special mocktails, sodas and coffee. The Raven’s food menu also features flatbreads, sliders, dips and more.
If you’re there to shop, the bookstore offers a variety of fiction and nonfiction, plus local art, jewelry, soaps and other gifts.

Great Expectations: How The Raven Began
The Raven first began as a result of a significant change in Reeves’ life. “When my husband passed away in 2025, I knew I had to reinvent myself,” Reeves says.
As she adjusted to her new reality, Reeves spent much of her time in bookstores. One day, while scrolling on Instagram, she stumbled upon the idea of a boozy bookstore. “The idea just clicked,” Reeves says. “Wine and a bookstore? I told myself, ‘I can do that.’”
A Brentwood resident for over 15 years, Reeves knew Williamson County needed more places to gather. So she started The Raven to bring the community together.
“I wanted to do events as well as highlight local artists and authors,” Reeves says. “I also desired The Raven to be a safe, kind and unifying place for everyone, including those from diverse backgrounds.”
Since opening, the community has embraced The Raven. “I cannot express how much support I’ve received from the Chamber, the city and the locals,” Reeves says. “Supporting small businesses is the norm here. The Raven fits right in with the growth that’s already happening. You don’t have to drive into Nashville to experience cool local businesses.”
