Beautiful outdoor areas, amazing educational programs, great restaurants and unique neighborhoods make Bridgeport, Conn., a fantastic city to live in. From the popular Beardsley Zoo to the incredible Adventure Park, kids of all ages can enjoy great outdoor activities in the Bridgeport woodlands. And the famous Barnum Festival unites this eclectic community every summer with art, games and entertainment for the whole family.

 Taberna

Taberna was opened in 2008 by brothers Jaime and Daniel Lopez. Their Nuevo Latino cuisine has been wildly popular in Bridgeport ever since. Locals and tourists alike rave about their famous tapas, and their menu doesn’t stop there. From their many homemade fresh pastas to their popular lamb stew, every dish is just as exquisite as it is delicious. With great food and friendly service, it’s no wonder Taberna is Bridgeport’s most popular restaurant. If you’re in Bridgeport, there’s no better place to eat than the delicious Taberna.

Beardsley Zoo

Beardsley Zoo is proud to have been Connecticut’s only zoo for more than 90 years. Beardsley Zoo is also an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and a participant in the Species Survival Plan program. The zoo is committed to preserving endangered animals and works to actively develop strategies to protect species and preserve their environments. The zoo’s commitment to preservation extends to their commitment to educating students in Bridgeport. Beardsley Zoo is a great contribution to the Bridgeport community.

Barnum Festival

The Barnum Festival has been building community spirit since 1948. Founded to honor Bridgeport’s most famous resident, founder of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus, Phineas Taylor Barnum. The festival is a celebration of the Bridgeport community and its great traditions. The celebration takes place throughout May and June every summer, culminating in fireworks and a parade for the community. If you’re thinking of visiting Bridgeport, there’s no better time to experience the amazing community than during the Barnum Festival.

Housatonic Museum of Art

The Housatonic Museum of Art offers students and the entire Bridgeport community the opportunity to view works of art from the ancient to the contemporary. The collection is displayed throughout the Housatonic Community College campus. The Housatonic also provides a basis for educational programs for not just students, but also the community of Bridgeport. In addition to the permanent collection, the changing exhibits in the Burt Chernow Galleries continue to be recognized as major cultural resources for the Bridgeport community.

The Adventure Park at the Discovery Museum

This amazing “aerial forest park” is located within five acres of woodland behind the Discovery Museum. The Adventure Park is an incredibly unique park for kids as well as adults. A series of bridges and ziplines connect trees in a series of “aerial trails” throughout the forest. There are 11 different color-coded trails from beginner to advanced, so everyone can enjoy climbing from tree to tree. In total there are almost 160 bridges throughout the park, making Adventure Forest the largest forest climbing park in New England.
