The Walk at Sandy Run in Warner Robins, GA
You can leave city life behind without ever leaving the city limits during a trip to The Walk at Sandy Run in Warner Robins. This 22-acre park along Sandy Run Creek features two boardwalks, a play area, a covered picnic area and plenty of green space. The well-maintained boardwalk trail covers nearly a mile out and back.
Massee Lane Gardens in Fort Valley, GA
What began as a private garden in the 1930s has blossomed into a 9-acre flower-filled site that is utilized as the headquarters for the American Camellia Society. Brick walkways lead visitors through a self-guided tour of nine different gardens. The camellias typically are on display from September through March, highlighted by the Festival of Camellias in February. But something beautiful is always in bloom at Massee Lane throughout the year.
Go Fish Education Center in Perry, GA
For some “reel” fun, the Go Fish Education Center in Perry features live fish exhibits with trout, largemouth bass and more. Visitors can catch fish in the stocked pond, experience interactive fishing and boating simulators, get tips on how and where to fish, and enjoy a walk on the nature trail. The center is operated by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division, and is core to the Go Fish Georgia Initiative.
