Overland Park, KS, Offers Career Opportunities, Work-Life Balance
Spend some time in Overland Park, Kansas, and you’ll see how engaged residents are in making it a great place to live, work and thrive. Thanks to the city’s diverse collection of employers, like software company WellSky, telecommunications and IT solutions company ANS, health care IT solutions company Netsmart, financial tech company Fiserv and insurance agency SelectQuote, Overland Park is a globally connected and vibrant area where businesses and people prosper.
Balancing Career and Family
As a Kansas native from Wichita, Brianna Daray, senior human resources business partner at WellSky, recognized that the greater Kansas City area offers opportunity and affordability. So, she turned her attention to the region when it was time to find a new position in her field.
“Overland Park, specifically, stood out as the perfect fit – a family-friendly suburb with excellent schools, plenty of parks and green space, proximity to the greater Kansas City metro and a strong job market,” Daray says. “It checked every box for both personal and professional growth.”
Daray’s husband, who had been working remotely for a company in Georgia, also found great career opportunities here. Within a few months of their move, he joined one of the largest U.S. commercial property insurance companies in a hybrid role.
“What I enjoy most about working at WellSky is being part of a mission that has real impact. Given my own and my family’s experiences navigating the health care system, I can relate to a mission that prioritizes improving patient outcomes through more connected and efficient care,” Daray says. “Health care is such a fragile, critical space, and I’m proud to contribute to an organization that’s making a difference for patients and providers alike.”
WellSky’s continued evolution has allowed Daray to broaden her professional experience, take on new initiatives and play an active role in business decisions that shape the people and culture.
“I see Overland Park as a great long-term choice because of its strong professional landscape and proximity to major employers, like Garmin, Hallmark and Cerner/Oracle,” she says. “The broader Kansas City metro area offers a diverse range of industries and career opportunities, while Overland Park provides a balanced quality of life, with manageable commutes and great communities.”
As a family with young children, the Darays spend time exploring parks and playgrounds, which are abundant in the area. They enjoy visiting places like Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, play cafes, Superkidz Club, splash pads, Chicken N Pickle and Kids Empire.
“Whenever we have visitors, they’re often amazed at how much there is to do locally without needing to travel into Kansas City,” Daray says. “Overall, I really appreciate the balance Overland Park offers – family-friendly amenities, local culture, an accessible nightlife and entertainment options.”

Finding the Ideal Fit
Hayden Green graduated from college in December 2023 and, shortly thereafter, moved to Overland Park to work for ANS, where he is an electrical engineer.
“The culture and the company as a whole are filled with hardworking people who are not afraid to take on any challenge and lend a hand,” Green says. “I’ve got an amazing group of coworkers who I know will have my back and contribute to my career growth.”
The region is an epicenter for engineering in the Midwest, thanks to the prominent universities nearby, like the University of Kansas and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
As Overland Park continues to grow, , Green says, “your career and opportunities grow with it.” In his free time, he enjoys walking the region’s trails and playing pickleball with friends.
“Overland Park has a family feel to it, so wherever you go, you feel safe and welcome,” Green says. “The city is still growing, and there is no shortage of opportunities here. Overland Park is also a great place to settle down and start a family. There’s no better place I have been that has the trifecta of work opportunities, a family-friendly atmosphere and outside activities.”
