Hinnant Family Vineyards & Winery in Pine Level planted its first vines in 1971 and began producing wine commercially in 2002. Since then the family-run winery has been racking up the accolades.
The vineyard’s muscadine blush wine has won numerous awards, including competitions in New York City and Florida.
Hinnant has the largest muscadine vineyard in North Carolina but produces wines from many kinds of fruit, including strawberry, peach, pomegranate and blueberry.
Purists will also find more traditional Chardonnay and red wine among its 13 varieties. Another popular seller is the scuppernong, a sweet white.
Hinnant Vineyards is open for tours during business hours, and also offers a gift shop and tasting room – or just sit along the wraparound porch and enjoy the view.
