SRM Concrete is a story of humility and success.

Melissa and Mike Hollingshead built the company that grew into SRM in their backyard. Within six months, area concrete finishers were ordering their product. Founded in 1999 with fewer than 10 employees, the company has grown to more than 5,000 employees in 16 states.

“We have been blessed to grow our company to where it is today,” says CEO Jeff Hollingshead, who runs the company with his father, Mike, and brother, Ryan. “We couldn’t have done it without every team member who works here. Their work ethic and enthusiasm are second to none.”

SRM moved its Nashville headquarters to Smyrna in a 60,000-squarefoot, five-story building on nearly 400 acres just off Interstate 840.

“It feels great to go back to where it started for us,” Jeff says. “Smyrna is home, not only to our business but for us personally, so we certainly feel as though we have come full circle.”

The new development is expected to spur growth along West Jefferson Pike. In addition to the new headquarters, the Hollingshead project includes retail and restaurant space, creating more investment and job opportunities. Smyrna officials have praised the project as establishing a “gateway” into the community. The development will preserve natural tree lines and provide ample green space, setting a positive tone for future growth.

Meanwhile, even with the impressive two-decade expansion of SRM, the family-owned business sees even more growth in the future.

“We are just getting started,” Jeff says. “Our goal is to continue to grow our company across the country while maintaining a great culture. We are proud of our past, but we are focused on our future. There is a real opportunity to grow our business to new heights over the next decade. Hopefully, our new building is the first of many.”
