Blount County is a popular craft beverage destination. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which spans Blount County and beyond, is the most-visited national park in the country. Also located here is the Appalachian Bear Rescue, which takes in orphaned bear cubs to rehabilitate them.
4. The Best School Districts in the State
According to Niche.com, Maryville City Schools and Alcoa City Schools hold the No. 1 and No. 8 spots for the 2024 Best School Districts in Tennessee. That’s a pretty big deal, but probably comes as no surprise to residents who have had children receive the top-notch education in Blount County. Both districts also make the top 10 on the list of Best Places to Teach in Tennessee.

5. The Sky City Entrepreneur Center
The area is an entrepreneurial hub, thanks to the Sky City Entrepreneur Center. The startup hub is a dual-purpose center, offering both coworking space and educational programs to help budding businesses find community, education and invaluable resources. The center’s CO.STARTERS program spans three months and utilizes a small-group environment to provide feedback for participants as they try to fine-tune their vision and business plans.
