Located along the Arkansas River, downtown Little Rock, AR, draws visitors for its nightlife and broad dining scene. Meanwhile, approximately 7,500 residents live in the area and enjoy its many entertainment venues and other accessible amenities.

Basics: A nonprofit group called Downtown Little Rock Partnership leads the charge for revitalization by teaming with city leaders on strategy and special projects, such as renovating buildings and beautifying street corners. The group also brings in special events and seasonal attractions, such as an ice skating rink in the River Market area for the holiday season. The city's system of streetcars increase accessibility thanks to routes between Little Rock and North Little Rock that include stops at many downtown attractions.

Details: Downtown Little Rock comprises nine distinct neighborhoods, each offering a mix of residential and commercial property. Among the most popular of these is River Market, which draws frequent visitors for concerts and sporting events as well as to the state's most visited landmark, the William J. Clinton Presidential Center and Park. More than 45 restaurants and 50 shops, including a farmers market and grocery store, round out the dining and shopping options downtown, according to the DLRP.
