Future-focused, award-winning services and excellence in patient care are just a few of the characteristics that define the outstanding medical community found in the scenic Victor Valley, CA.

Nationally Recognized Health Care

Desert Valley Hospital, an innovative 148-bed acute care facility, has a reputation that shines for providing state-of-the-art quality health care in a seamlessly integrated model with Desert Valley Medical Group, the largest multispecialty medical group in the area since 1985.

The hospital, a member of Prime Healthcare, has garnered a large collection of awards and recognitions — including being named to the 2022 Fortune/Merative 100 Top Hospitals list, an honor it has earned seven times.

Additionally, it received the green light from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education to start a new internal medicine residency program in July 2023. Internal medicine residents will receive their training at Desert Valley Hospital, while also completing specialty rotations in clinics within Desert Valley Medical Group and throughout the Victor Valley region.

“Our goal is to train residents to be compassionate and skilled physicians, ensuring they receive the experiences necessary to prepare them for a successful future in medicine,” says Dr. Imran Siddiqui, chief medical officer of Desert Valley Hospital and Desert Valley Medical Group. “The success of our program is key to addressing the shortage of physicians in the High Desert.”

The residency program recently received a $630,000 CalMedForce Graduate Medical Education grant provided by the Physicians for a Healthy California (formerly the California Medical Association Foundation) that it will share with Chino Valley Medical Center in Chino, CA.

ER Expansion

The doors should soon swing open to a highly anticipated and expanded emergency department at the Victor Valley Global Medical Center’s Eleventh Street campus in Victorville. The first phase of the planned renovation project will add about 6,800 square feet, with room for 16 more beds that will better serve an estimated 40,000 annual emergency room patients.

The 101-bed acute care hospital offers a 24-hour emergency department and is a member of the KPC Health system. Patients are provided a high level of expertise and compassionate care, with a focus on helping them enjoy life in great health.

Residency Program Planned

Exciting developments are on the horizon for Providence St. Mary Medical Center. In early 2023, the facility received a $2.1 million gift from the Southern California-based Rauch Family Foundation to help fund an internal medicine residency program. The new offering will help attract top-tier physicians and keep those individuals in the High Desert.

“This gift provides a transformational opportunity for Providence St. Mary to foster a unique educational environment for emerging doctors in the High Desert. This new residency program allows us to bring the brightest talent to our community, revolutionize patient care and change lives,” says Chief Executive Randall Castillo.

St. Mary plans to launch the program in 2025.

Serving the needs of its neighbors, especially the poor and vulnerable, has been the focus of the facility since it opened in 1956, making it the oldest hospital serving the Victor Valley. It is also the largest with 213 beds, annually sees more than 64,000 emergency department visits and welcomes nearly 1,500 babies born there each year.

St. Mary understands minutes are crucial when a stroke occurs. The hospital holds the distinction of operating the only Primary Stroke Center in the area since 2017 and the only Stroke Receiving Center since 2018.

Excellence in this field earned them recognition from Healthgrades — the leading resource connecting consumers, physicians and health systems — in 2022 as being among the best stroke-care hospitals in the U.S. for the second consecutive year. Also, the medical center has earned high performance ratings from U.S. News & World Report for the treatment of stroke and five other conditions.
