This city within Rhode Island’s Providence County also has a prime public school district with 15 elementary schools, four middle schools, four high schools and an early childhood center. Parks and trails are plentiful, and Providence is just a 15-minute drive away. 

Cranston’s neighborhoods reflect various aspects of the city, and there are plenty of different places to choose from. Edgewood has many Victorian-era homes, tree-lined streets and the Edgewood Yacht Club. Pawtuxet Village, a seaside enclave, is one of the oldest communities in New England. History buffs will appreciate how much of Cranston’s architectural past still stands. Among other historic places, Governor Sprague Mansion is now the headquarters for the Cranston Historical Society. The Cranston Public Library system has six locations throughout Cranston. Some of these libraries host regular events such as story times.
