#72. Pasadena, CA

A beautiful and historic city, Pasadena is perhaps best known for its annual Rose Bowl college football game that now spans more than 100 years, while the city’s annual Tournament of Roses Parade celebrated its 125th anniversary back in 2014.

Pasadena ranks high in education due largely to California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech). The community features 16 museums, 11 performing arts halls, and more than 500 restaurants. A citywide emphasis on walkability has made it much easier to get around on foot here than in other California cities, and Pasadena’s pleasant climate makes a stroll through town that much more appealing. With historic architecture and Craftsman-style buildings, the city is as lovely as it is friendly. Pasadena is also a leader in green initiatives, with residents taking action to care for the environment.
