Victor Valley’s Golden Age: New PACE Facility Expands Senior Care

According to a report by the California Department of Aging, the Victor Valley sits within one of six California counties that are expected to see a more than 200% growth rate of those over age 60 by 2060. 

While several high-quality health care systems, facilities and wellness resources already serve area residents, plans for extended services are underway to meet the anticipated needs of the growing senior population. In addition to seniors, these plans are expected to improve the quality of life of their extended families, as they count on support from their community to care for their loved ones. 

High Desert PACE: Enhancing Senior Care in the Victor Valley

One facility that opened in 2024 will expand on a nationally replicated and federally funded program that has successfully provided seniors with superior outpatient health care since 1971. 

The High Desert Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) in Victorville provides its patients with comprehensive health care services, including primary and physical care, in addition to meeting other well-being necessities, such as offering nutritious meals, social interaction and recreational activities. Patients also have access to a team of dedicated professionals who help coordinate personal health care plans, which includes scheduling appointments, arranging for specialty care and even ensuring patients have transportation to and from the facility. 

Expanding Services: A New Facility for Adult Day Health and Clinical Care

What services and resources does the current High Desert PACE facility provide to the area’s senior population? 

High Desert PACE offers a comprehensive range of services tailored to meet the unique needs of seniors. This includes medical care, social services, rehabilitation and transportation, all designed to support seniors in maintaining their independence and enhancing their quality of life. 

Will the new elder day and clinical care center take the place of the current center, or will it be an extension? 

The new adult day health care and clinical care facility (otherwise referred to as TESA – an acronym honoring family members of the executive staff) will complement the existing facility rather than replace it entirely. The new facility will offer expanded services or specialized care options while continuing to provide the existing services at the current center. 

What additional services and resources will be available at the new PACE facility? 

The new facility may indeed expand on the services and resources currently offered. Patients can anticipate access to enhanced medical care, including specialized clinics for chronic conditions, such as diabetes or heart disease. Additionally, there may be increased social activities and programs to promote mental and emotional well-being, along with expanded transportation options for easier access to appointments and community outings.
